Melbourne Cup 2013
Well… what can I say? Melbourne gives good Cup!
Unlike Derby Day which is mainly about celebrities, entertainment and fashion… Melbourne Cup Day is a little more subdue in the glitterati department and lends itself more to the business end of things. But of course entertainment and fun is still to be had. It is racing season after all!
So let’s get to it…
Ran into my girl Pia Miller. She. Looked. Hot. Period. I have known Pia since we were teenagers (and yes she was blisteringly beautiful even back then) and I couldn’t be more proud of how far she has come and what a good human she is.
Speaking of beautiful … we also got chance to meet and chat with Kate Waterhouse about an hour before the main race. (Her mom Gai Waterhouse was the trainer for Fiorente, the horse that won the Melbourne Cup this year!) Pure grace and class that one. Keep your eyes peeled to the site for an upcoming post and interview with Kate. In addition here is a bit of info I find truly inspiring…It took Gai Waterhouse (Kate’s mom) 20 tries for the Cup before she actually got her first Melbourne Cup win this year! Let this be a lesson munchkins… try and try again…
Lastly but certainly not least… I mentioned that it was more work/business based this time at the races, so it was super exciting to meet and pick the brains of some Australian media power houses! Michael Pell my favorite TV producer (seriously funny that one), Lillian Frank, Samantha Armytage, and the glorious Melissa Hoyer.
We promise to bring you more with all this awesome folk in the coming months. Until then have a look of the pics from the day and what we thought were the fashion standouts
